Coffee leaves me with uncomfortable palpitations and make it hard to fall asleep, so I don’t drink it every day—just the occasional team coffee at work. On our recent team coffee, my colleague ordered a coconut matcha, and I decided to try it too—I loved it. That first sip was all it took to inspire me to make it at home.
Luckily, we always have matcha powder in the pantry—my daughters love making iced matcha lattes—so I had everything I needed. I used Thea matcha brand and Alpro Barista Coconut Milk, and frothed the milk using the steam wand on my Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus. It was surprisingly simple: just good matcha powder, hot water, and coconut milk. The result? Smooth, subtly sweet, and incredibly comforting—like a warm hug in a mug.
Now that I know how easy it is to make, I can see this becoming part of my morning or weekend ritual. If you’re looking for a soothing, coffee-free alternative that won’t keep you up at night, coconut matcha might just be your perfect cup.
🍵 Coconut Matcha Latte – Easy At-Home Recipe
Ingredients:
-
1/2 tsp matcha powder
2 tbsp hot water
-
150ml coconut milk
-
Sweetener (optional – honey, maple syrup, stevia)
Instructions:
-
In your cup, whisk the matcha powder with hot water until smooth and frothy.
-
Heat and froth the coconut milk using a steam wand of your coffee machine or a stick frother. Alternatively, warm it gently on the stove or in the microwave and froth by hand.
-
Pour the frothed coconut milk into your cup with the matcha.
-
Stir gently and sweeten to taste, if desired. I don’t put on mine as the coconut milk that I use is already a bit sweet.
-
Sip slowly and enjoy your cozy, calm moment.
